Yes whey!!!
Whey is the stuff left behind after you take the solids out of milk to make cheese. I saved mine after I made Queso Blanco because someone told me I should totally try using it to replace the milk/water in my bread recipe next time I made bread. Well.... we are broke until payday, and out of bread. So i baked up a couple of loaves of English Muffin Bread.
I made one loaf two days ago to go with our meat loaf (YUM) but all my whey was frozen so I thawed it to make two loaves today.
All I can say is wow. I do not know why it would make the bread so soft and delicious compared to using milk/water but boy oh boy is that nice bread. It has a slightly golden hue to the bread, is soft and moist and toasts up to DIE for. I love this english muffin bread because it is super easy and anyone can make it. It's almost a batter bread/quick bread. it requires no kneading and is easy to mix up. But made with whey it is just soooo good!
I don't know why, but it's true, the whey made for a gosh darned fine loaf of bread. I need to freeze the stuff up into smaller containers so i have the right amount for cooking and don't have to thaw the whole gallon each time i want to make a loaf.

*sings* I felt the earth move under my feet!
Copy/paste from IM:
EARTHQUAKE!?!?!?!
OK, this is unacceptable. The reason I will never ever return to California is because you can't count on the ground staying put where it belongs. I will NOT tolerate this kind of foolishness in MICHIGAN!
Canada, if you are going to get all wobbly on me, keep it on YOUR SIDE of the border, got it?!
6/23/2010 1:46:28 PM L. Pony: whoa... i just had the weirdest sensation
6/23/2010 1:46:49 PM L. Pony: you know how it feels in a car when someone is rocking side to side?
6/23/2010 1:46:59 PM Tsurashi: yeah
6/23/2010 1:47:09 PM L. Pony: it felt like that in the house, and nigel started to growl.
6/23/2010 1:47:20 PM Tsurashi: O_o
6/23/2010 1:47:33 PM L. Pony: freaked me out.
EARTHQUAKE!?!?!?!
Earthquake Shakes Ithaca
No damage immediately reported
An earthquake this afternoon has impacted parts of Upstate New York, including Ithaca. The quake was reportedly felt throughout Central and Western New York for about 10 to 15 seconds. There are no immediate reports of damage in the area.
According to the Globe and Mail the earthquake was centered in Canada and has been felt as far away as Ohio and Michigan. The most recent significant earthquake in the area was in 2002 when a 5.1 magnitude quake occurred near Plattsburgh, New York in the Adirondacks.
The USGS has confirmed a 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:41 this afternoon, centered near the Quebec/Ontario border in southern Canada, about 40 miles north of Ottawa. WVBR will bring you more on the story as it develops.

Sorry...
Things are tough for me right now, so please forgive me for being very scant on the posts. I have a lot I would like to say but right now I am terribly upset about issues going on with some friends of mine. I keep wanting to post about the garden and the goats and the horses and such but every time i try I just break down.
I am FINE, nothing is going wrong with ME. I am just way too emotionally involved in the dissolution of the marriage of the people who were, IMO, my two best friends. Because no matter what happens at this point I have lost at least one of them as a friend, and seeing the hurt going on between them is making me physically ill. I've been spending less time online, more time with my nose stuck in a book to just avoid thinking about it all.
A dear friend of mine once said, "It's really exhausting being there for your friends when they are hurting." This friend said that while being there for ME while *I* was going through MY divorce. It's the same friend who is now going through it themselves and they were right.
