horse pictures and craft swap gift....

Photobucket

Today i was expecting a package in the mail. My mail man is... not always the most, um... well... he tends to do less than the minimum required to meet the requirements of his job. Since I was grazing the horses in the yard and the fence crossed the drive I figured he would never walk to the house (he sits out there and honks usually, even when he can pull all the way up to the house) and to be honest i was not entirely sure he would notice the lime green surveyors tape dangling off the wire in time to keep from driving through the temporary fence.

So I went out there around the time the mail normally comes just in case, and spent some time just hanging with the ponies. He was almost 2 hours late, and I got a sun burn on my shoulders while I was waiting but I really enjoyed the time just chilling with the hairballs. I also got pictures.

Well, after chillin' for hours he ends up just cramming it into the mailbox. I had to shred the envelope to get it out, but thankfully my craft exchange gift was unharmed. This was an event we had at Global Family Room.... check it out, I have a huge freakin' ad for Global Family Room right over there ----------->

Anyway, I got a cool wash cloth and a book mark. Jeni, this wash cloth with the horse head on it? That was what the red and white one I sent you was SUPPOSED to look like, hehehe! The horse head is much more noticeable in the one my swapper made.

Then I got this gorgeous blue knit shawl with fringe along the ends. I could not get a single picture of it that shows the colour accurately. It is a bit more smokey blue than it looks in this picture:

I couldn't get a decent picture of it on me, I'm having a bad hair/face/skin/everything day, lol. So I forced my poor red eyed child to model it for me. It is not as smokey grey looking as it looks in this picture, it is right smack dab in the middle of the two pictures when you see it in real life:

So THANK YOU Catrina! I LUFFFFF IT SOOOOO much!!!! I can't wait for chilly evenings so I can wear it. *MUAH*

It's the simple things that amuse me.

I have to admit i partially have the google ads on my blog for my own entertainment. Sure, it's nice to make a few pennies if someone clicks the ads but in reality I just get a huge amount of entertainment out of seeing what ads pop up according to what topics I have discussed recently. As an example, today I saw ads about gall bladder home remedies, hoof stands and organic cheese. Organic cheese? Yes. Organic cheese.

Another thing that amuses me are these "words" you have to type in at some blogs before posting a comment. Most of the time they are not actual words, but they REALLY look like they should be! I wish I had taken notes on some of them. I'm going to start writing them down and making up definitions for them. Maybe I will save up enough to make a whole post. Hehe.

Today is the last day of school for this school year. Half day. I have to go pick my kid up so she can clean out her filthy locker. I'm looking forward to not having to get up at 4am for the next few months.

All of my gourds are planted. Now to just protect them from late frosts and keep them watered and wait.

Tsu got me the new Wii Active. It's a pretty good work out! More serious than the Wii Fit. I like it. I'm back watching what I eat and working out and I have gained 3 pounds. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Maybe it is because I am drinking more water like I am supposed to be. I dunno, but it is annoying.

Sad sad day....

Rest In Peace David Carradine. May you find the peace in death that so obviously evaded you in life. Thank you for so many many hours of entertainment.

Pedicure please!!

Photobucket

Tuesday was pedicure day for the ponies.

First, I love my trimmer. She is awesome. Reliable, communicative, and she likes my horses. Even the tiny ones. I bought one of the minis from her, actually, so she loves to come back and see her girl every other month.

This was her first time trimming Brego. He was a good boy. Aside from trying to kneel on her once and trying half heartedly to take his foot away when he got bored he was a real champ. She said she was impressed with how mellow he was and he is really pretty and she can totally see the charm of the Gypsies. Only problem is that he is just the right height to be too short for her to work standing and too tall for her to work kneeling like the minis. DOH. I told her I should get her a little bench to sit on half way between kneeling and standing height, lol.

She said his feet look good, one front has an uneven sole but she doesn't think it will take more than a trim or two for the shallow side to fill in. Nice thick hoof wall, said his frogs look excellent. It looks like he had a couple of old abscesses blow out on his hinds some time ago but they didn't look bad. All in all she said he has good solid feet. Yay! I LOVE his white feet. I have always loved white feet. I know this is going to sound stupid but they look like vanilla fudge to me. Or a good brick of hard white cheese. Yes, I love white horse feet because they remind me of food items.

Mary and Sparrow weren't so great with their trims. They behaved themselves fine, and shockingly, after watching Brego get trimmed Sparrow didn't freak out over the farriers tool carrier like he always does! I guess he figured it Brego wasn't concerned he wouldn't be either. Stupid pony. However, both of them have something funky going on in their white line. Nothing severe, but it does need some treatment. So I'm cleaning and packing them every couple of days. We think it is from when they were quarantined in the back lot and it was disgustingly muddy for like 2 weeks. I treated them for thrush even though they showed no signs of it just because that muck concerned me. But it looks like some fungus or something got into the white line. Mary should have hers grown out enough at next trim to be back to normal, Sparrow will have one spot that may take a few trims.

YAY! I have gall stones!!!!

Hurray! Test results are back and it is official, I have gall stones!!! YIPPIE!

No, really, this is great news because it means we know what caused my attacks now for sure. And the stones are small and not in a horrible place so I have a list of dietary crap to avoid, and danger signs to watch for. She is not recommending surgery or meds as of yet, since my attacks are so few and far between. The meds and surgery both have the risk of some side effects so... it is kind of a wait and see thing now. But at least we know. Also, my cholesterol looks great. HDL is the same, LDL is like 25 points lower than it was last september. My triglycerides are a lot lower too. HUZZAH!

So while it isn't good that I have gall stones it is better to know I have gall stones than to have something wrong and not know what.

Last week of school....

Friday is the last day and Tiff couldn't be happier. I talked to her dad last night and she will be spending the first week of summer vacation with me. I told him my brother Jonathan is getting married July 4th and he about passed out. I told him, "Would you like a moment of silence while you have one of those crazy "I feel old" moments?" Told him wife to be is a Marine. Then mentioned that my other brother has been married over two years to a school teacher in Florida and I thought he was going to pass out for real. I thought it was funny. Middle brother is 32 or so, youngest brother is like mid-20's. I guess he still just remembers them as little kids. At any rate, it was funny.

Tiffany had a drawing in an art exhibit but we didn't know until after it was over. *roll eyes* Well today they will be exhibiting them at the school. So I'll try and get some pictures.

The ponies just finished grazing down the back yard. Time to move the fence again. I am going to be putting a round pen out front over the next week or two, using the logs my dad gave me as fence posts. I need to strip the bark off of them first though. Then I can get serious about working Brego because I won't have to worry about him smashing me on a tree if he gets a wild hair.

Another attempt at a picture of Sparrow, lol:

He was itching himself and I thought it was cute:

Synchronized rolling! (I do not turn out in halters, but when I move them to their temporary lots in the yard I leave their halters on until I groom each one, and remove the halter when I am done hoof picking and mane and tail brushing. I'd run in to go pee right quick after letting them loose and saw this scene out the window and had to grab the pictures, hehe)

These rolling pictures crack me up:
